Retailer/Vendor Collaboration Viewed As A Critical Challenge

According to an article by Al Heller "New Focus Planned for Collaborative Trade Promotion Optimization" published in the Sept CPGMatters retailers and vendors still have a ways to go on creating true collaborative relationships.

"Two critical challenges face leading consumer companies today, asserted Johan Saur, principal, Booz Allen Hamilton: “The ability to create and respond to demand signals at a more granular level—at the SKU, the store, and by day—and how to effectively manage the growing level of complexity of product differentiation."

This blog has published many articles on the necessity and benefits of close collaboration between retailers and vendors. When done right store and item level planning yield huge benefits for both parties. The key is having the resources and tools to do planning at a store level.
